For over 20 years I've been collecting stories, photographs, interviews and researching various aspects of the human history of Algonquin Park. In the fall of 2020, I launched my new podcast Algonquin Defining Moments.  The podcast's objective is to continue my mission of sharing stories, recollections, traditions, landmarks and other fun and interesting human history and heritage tidbits in what I hope is a new and engaging way. Those who share my passion for everything Algonquin Park can now listen to snippets of the human history of the park while commuting, walking, cooking, working around the house or even just meditating on the back deck. Enjoy!

Digging Up the Past

The Earth Caretaker Way

Tom Thomson Revisited

1. In creating this painting Paulette borrowed elements from A.J. Casson, Joachin Gauthier  and an Ontario publicity brochure. The majestic pine reaching up to the skies, the moon and scattered clouds was sketched from my family room window. The profile, cabin and canoe are icons, prominently placed telling his story, creating a mysterious aura where reality is set aside.
2. This piece serves to encapsulate the quietness and stillness of Thomson's last campfire on Canoe Lake.
3. Done to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Thomson's death, just as he was gaining confidence and mastering his craft.
4. The Farmer's Almanac shows on July 5th 1917 the moon was full over Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park.  This painting shows what it would have looked llke the night Tom died and is a nod to Tom and Thanks for all the beautiful paintings and inspiration.
